Who can lead a Beta course?
People who have experience in leading small groups |
Home group leaders, pastoral carers and counsellors, ministers, and teachers will make good Beta Facilitators |
A 50 minute Training video for Facilitators, and an in-depth Administrators' and Facilitator's Manual comes with the Beta full set. These provide all the general principles, plus step by step guidance, needed to successfully run a course. |
To run a Beta course you will need a Facilitator, a Helper, and a comfortable room with a television and video. |
'There was good information and guidance (in the Facilitator's manual) on how to run the groups and how to cope with the different kinds of difficulties that might arise... I think that the programme is "safe"... It prompts reflection and encourages insight, chiefly through the homework assignments which are not for sharing... the "Next Steps" handout helps to address potential (ongoing) needs.' (Nicky Rattigan, clinical psychologist and Beta course facilitator at St. Mary Magdalene, Brampton) (see Nicky's complete review on Beta News page)
'The manual made it really easy to lead... and my group decided to spend more time discussing things, so we all agreed on having slightly longer sessions.' (Liz Gulliford, Beta facilitator, Cambridge)
